Message depending on the size of the cam and also what rpm range. A long duration cam will have lower compression numbers in the bottom rpm range. When you do a compression test at starter speed, the long duration cam will give lower readings that a stock cam. The compression ratio is a mechanical ratio which has nothing to do with how well the motor breathes.
